Central City’s Innovative Spirits Win at 2019 Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition

Central City Brewers & Distillers spirit portfolio may be best known for the internationally acclaimed Queensborough Gin and Lohin McKinnon Whisky brands, but its innovation spirits portfolio is gathering great acclaim.

At the 2019 Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition, two of Central City’s lesser known products took silver medals against a fierce group of competition. Sparrow Aged Rum and Peeled Orange Liqueur stood up against the rest and were awarded these prestigious awards.

The Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition is the first award recognition for Sparrow Rum since being launched in fall 2018, and the second award for Peeled after winning a bronze medal in the 2018 Canadian Whisky Awards.

“We have built our spirits portfolio around Whisky and Gin but remain focussed on spirit innovation” comments Marketing Director, Dustan Sept, “Experimenting with whisky and gin as well as some of the less common craft spirits allows us to continue to push ourselves and the industry. Aged 4 years, Sparrow is a best in class amber Rum and Peeled is the only whisky-based orange liqueur we are aware of in market.”

Sparrow Rum is currently available in British Columbia private and government liqueur stores and will be available at select Alberta retailers in Q2 2019. Peeled Rum is available in select private British Columbia retailers and will also be available in Alberta mid-2019.
