CENTRAL CITY BREWERS + DISTILLERS AND SURREY FIREFIGHTERS CHARITABLE SOCIETY PARTNERSHIP SCORES BIG WIN FOR AUTISM RESEARCH

Over $25,000 raised in support of autism research through this joint partnership.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SURREY, BC – For Autism Awareness Month 2020 Central City Brewers + Distillers teamed up with the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society to support autism research and raised over $25,000 through sales of specially-marked Red Racer Reign of Hops packs.

This year Red Racer committed to donating $2 from every Reign of Hops pack sold in western Canada towards autism research.  Through this endeavour the partnership with Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society raised $25,568 for this worthy cause.

In spite of the impacts felt through the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic that forced the cancellation of events and other fundraising opportunities, these two Surrey, BC-based organizations are proud of the contributions of Canadians to this cause and are grateful for their ongoing support.

Autism now affects 1 in 46 children in BC with boys being four and a half times more likely to have autism than girls.  It is the fastest growing developmental disorder with 1% of the world’s population affected by autism.

Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society is a BC organization that is committed to supporting the community by raising money for local causes.  The joint partnership between SFFCS and CCBD is just getting started with more work to come in future years.

Funds raised through the Red Racer Autism Awareness Program help fund research into the use of technology in early detection of autism to help families get support earlier in life.  This research seeks to shrink the time for a diagnosis from years down to days, or even minutes through advanced technology, mathematical models, and artificial intelligence.

Since 2013 Red Racer has raised over $800,000 through their partnership with SFU.  Through the partnership with Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society the goal is to bring the amount raised to over $1M.
