Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society Joins Central City for Autism Awareness Month in Support of Research into the Causes of Autism
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SURREY, BC – April is Autism Awareness Month and for 2020 Central City Brewers + Distillers is teaming up with the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society to help support autism research.
Autism now affects 1 in 64 children in Canada, with boys being four times more likely to have autism than girls. It is the fastest growing developmental disorder with 1% of the world’s population affected by autism.
Each year Red Racer brings out a special beer, the proceeds of which are donated towards autism research. This year every specially marked 12 pack of Red Racer Reign of Hops mixer pack purchased in the month of April in Western Canada will support autism research through a $2 donation by Red Racer.
Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society is a BC organization that is committed to supporting the community by raising money for local causes. As two Surrey, BC-based organizations, a partnership between Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society and Red Racer is a natural fit that will help propel the Autism Awareness message to even greater heights.
Funds raised through the Red Racer Autism Awareness Program help fund research into the use of technology in early detection of autism to help families get support earlier in life. This research seeks to shrink the time for a diagnosis from years down to days, or even minutes through advanced technology, mathematical models, and artificial intelligence.
Since 2013 Red Racer has raised over $800,000 through their partnership with Simon Fraser University. Through the partnership with Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society the goal is to bring the amount raised to over $1M.
Central City Brewers + Distillers and the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society are proud to announce this exciting new partnership in support of the annual Red Racer Autism Awareness Program.
