November 4th, 2020 – Surrey, BC – Central City Brewers + Distillers announces the temporary closure of the Red Racer Taphouse on Beatty Street and the Central City Taphouse in Surrey.
At this time Central City elected to close these locations due to the market conditions that have affected the hospitality industry because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty that has resulted.
The two facilities have formed pillars of the Surrey-based brewery and distillery since their inception in 2003.
Central City Brewing began at the Central City Taphouse location in the Central City Mall in 2003. After opening their new state-of-the-art brewery on Bridgeview Drive in Surrey, the brewpub began running as a stand-alone restaurant.
Red Racer Taphouse (initially Red Racer Restaurant) opened in 2015 after Central City purchased the venue formerly known as Dix Bar-B-Q and Brewery.
Further news regarding the future of the venues will be released as the COVID-19 situation progresses.
