Central City Collaborates with Great Lakes Brewery on Peared Up Saison

Two of BC and Ontario’s best breweries juice up on Trans-Canada collaboration

Surrey’s Central City Brewers + Distillers is working together with Toronto’s Great Lakes Brewery on a juicy seasonal collaboration, Peared Up Saison.

Peared Up Saison marks the first time the two award-winning breweries have collaborated together on a seasonal release. It is a single hopped saison brewed with Jarrylo Hops and real pear juice. The hops bring out a natural banana, pear and citrus spice flavour in this light and sessionable ale. The natural hop flavour is augmented with pear juice in the brew for a fruit-infused flavour experience.

“We were looking to create a light summer sessionable ale that can be enjoyed while people are out and about having fun under the sun,” says Gary Lohin, brewmaster at Central City Brewers + Distillers. “When the opportunity came up to collaborate with the award-winning Great Lakes Brewery, one of Toronto’s oldest breweries, we couldn’t pass up the chance to work with them on this pear saison.”

“We travelled across Canada to the west coast to find a like-minded brewery and Central City’s reputation for making award-winning, great tasting beers just made this collaboration a no-brainer,” says Mike Lackey, head brewer at Great Lakes Brewery. “Our goal was to brew a refreshing, seasonal beer that can be equally enjoyable on the Ontario lakes in cottage country, or on the North Shore mountains after a grinding hike.”

The Peared Up Saison (5% ABV) is available in 650 ml bottles in BC and Alberta liquor stores by end of July.
